The Hansen Valve Pre-Amplifier is designed for the purist with the shortest signal path between input and output. Great sound synergy can be obtained when the Hansen Valve Pre-Amplifier is matched with the Hansen Power Amplifiers. Purity, dynamics and excellent bass control describe this valve pre-amplifier. This valve pre-amplifier reproduces the fine details and "air" of the sound recording with clarity and ease re-creating the three dimensional sound stage of the original. Bass is deep with bottom end detail and control. Available upgrades take this pre-amp to a level of sound well beyond the monetary value. This pre-amplifier will bring great listening pleasure in any system. Valve at another level!
The Hansen Pre-Amplifier is a stereo line level pre-amplifier using two "6SN7 type" valves. It has an input impedance of 20K Ohm and a low output impedance that can drive long capacitive RCA leads. It uses a high quality Blue Alps potentiometer and has an input selector switch with silver contacts. The valves are hard wired with point to point solid core high quality copper wire with a poly-ethylene sheath. The output wire on each channel is tweaked with a piece of high purity solid silver wire in line with the copper wire. There are separate high voltage and low voltage transformers, both suspended on rubber mountings for damping purposes, eliminating transformer vibration reaching the valves. The valves are mounted in the chassis on a wood cross member of an "H" frame for rigidity and at 90 degrees to the horizontal to reduce susceptibility to vibration which the valve picks up as micro-phonics. Wood is used as it has a better sonic signature that metal. The low and high voltage power supplies are on separate printed circuit boards. Both power supplies have high speed diodes and good quality capacitors with values far above the standard requirements so as to improve dynamics in the sound, smoothing of the voltage and noise reduction. Bypass capacitors are inserted in all critical positions on both power supplies and in the audio section. Shields are inserted between the power supply sections and the audio area to reduce noise transfer. The built-in output delay circuit is designed not to infringe on the signal path and has a delay time of around 1minute allowing the valves and circuits to settle before engaging with the power amplifier. If the ac mains input switches off for 1 second, the delay circuit is reset and will delay output to the power amp again, thus providing protection from ac mains dips and switch-on noise. The HANSEN Valve Pre-Amplifier is designed for operation with 230VAC mains input.
